Balram has around one and half decades of experience in the financial services industry, spanning across banking and asset management companies. He specialized in managing their institutional business. His interactions with the treasury departments of almost all companies in Chennai and other locations in the state, kindled his interest to follow the start-up space closely. Balram currently manages the office at The Chennai Angels, which is an angel investment group based out of Chennai. The Chennai Angels provides equity capital, nurture and mentor new generation entrepreneurs.
Balram’s expertise is in advisory – individual and corporate, which covers asset allocation across equity, debt and alternative asset classes. He also acts as an advisor to a few companies in this space. At The Chennai Angels, his responsibility covers a wide range of functions including brand building, identifying new opportunities, and closing investments.
He has been an active member in the Startup ecosystem, participating in many panel discussions and judging pitch events.
